Personal Background ​

Gaeul was born and raised in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, South Korea. She has an older brother.

Her parents disapproved of her pursuing a career in K-pop. She made a deal with her parents to train if scouted again. She was scouted again and trained for more than 4 years under Starship.

Career ​

Trainee and Pre-debut ​

Gaeul's journey into the world of K-pop began with her deep passion for dance. As a student in Incheon, she actively participated in dance competitions, where her talent and stage presence caught the attention of JYP Entertainment scouts. Although she was initially cast by JYP, Gaeul ultimately joined Starship Entertainment in 2017, after being scouted again during her third year of middle school.

Her trainee period at Starship lasted over four years, making her the member with the longest training time in IVE. Throughout her training, Gaeul was recognized for her strong sense of responsibility and leadership qualities, often taking on a guiding role among her peers. Her dedication and work ethic set her apart, earning her a reputation for being both diligent and supportive, yet firm when needed. These formative years not only honed her skills as a performer but also shaped her disciplined approach to teamwork and artistry, laying a solid foundation for her debut with IVE.

Debut with IVE ​

Gaeul debuted as a member of IVE on December 1, 2021, with the single album Eleven. She is the main dancer of the group. She is also responsible for delivering rap verses and executing the group's choreography. As the main dancer, she is known for her powerful and precise dance moves.

Her killer part in IVE's popular song "After Like" is particularly well-regarded by fans and is sometimes cited as a reason for the song's popularity.
